Atlanta, GA - March 13, 2020: The news updates regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus) continue to generate questions regarding products and packages originating from China, specifically, as well as raw material supply chain reliability.
Solaris Paper refers to and recommends review of the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/faq.html that note “In general, because of poor survivability of these coronaviruses on surfaces, there is likely very low risk of spread from products or packaging that are shipped over a period of days or weeks at ambient temperatures. Coronaviruses are generally thought to spread most often by respiratory droplets. Currently there is no evidence to support transmission of COVID-19 associated with imported goods and there have not been any cases of COVID-19 in the United States associated with imported goods.”
Additionally, Solaris Paper AFH’s raw material, rapidly renewable fiber (RRF) base paper supply originates from all over the world including the United States with final converting production here domestically. Our advantage is the ability to source raw materials from a global supply chain that enhances mobility during times of crisis. In addition, our strategic supply partner APP has developed preparedness plans to protect the health and safety of their employees around the world while safely and effectively continuing consistent business operations.
We encourage everyone to follow the CDC’s guidelines for personal protection and prevention including covering your cough or sneeze with facial tissue if possible with proper disposal in a trash can, washing your hands often and thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. And if soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. More information can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/faq.html
We continue to monitor the situation and will quickly communicate any pertinent changes. Please feel free to reach out to your Solaris Paper Representative with any additional questions or concerns.
