Solaris Paper Introduces New Rapidly Renewable Fiber Seal

Atlanta, GA – (June 10, 2015) – Solaris Paper continues to promote its sustainability commitment to environmentally responsible fiber sourcing and zero deforestation with the reveal of a new Rapidly Renewable Fiber (RRF) seal.

Rapidly Renewable describes plant materials that harvest in a 10-year cycle or less. Solaris Paper’s strategic supply partner responsibly produces RRF from trees that flourish in warm, moist climates, and reach full height and maturity in 6-8 years. Young, fast-growing trees enable shorter harvest cycles yielding more paper from more trees on less land and in less time.

Moreover, RRF is virgin fiber. This means that it does not gain any additional energy footprint; which is collected from consumer recycle bins or the chemical impurity footprint associated with re-processing in de-inking plants. And the end-product is a whiter, brighter, softer, “greener” and smarter paper choice.

Rapidly renewable resources have been recognized for years by the U.S. EPA and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as raw materials that are environmentally preferred. By virtue of their greater potential to be replenished quickly, relative to other raw materials used for the same purpose, rapidly renewable fiber is considered to be more sustainable.

Solaris Paper towel and tissue paper products are derived from Rapidly Renewable Resources or Fiber, and is a legitimate compliance pathway in LEEDEBOM (Existing Buildings: Operation and Maintenance) since the 2009 version (v3) and is also in the newly published 2014 (v4).
